Health · Social · Market research across Africa

Research that holds up in the real world.

We design the tools, run the fieldwork and stay with the analysis — so that the decisions made from our work are ones people can live with. Health, social and market research across Africa, delivered by researchers who know the ground they work on.

What we do

We sit with public institutions, NGOs and development groups who are trying to make something work.

Four things we do properly, and have done for more than a hundred projects across ten or more sectors.

Quantitative research

Face-to-face interviews, CATI, CAWI and CAPI — built to capture large-scale, reliable data across diverse respondent groups without losing the people behind the numbers.

Social & market research

In-depth analysis of consumer behaviour, market trends and industry shifts — the kind of read that gives a business or a programme the confidence to commit.

Research team reviewing findings together
Global expertise, local perspective — and a team that lives in the regions we work in.

How we work

We build a team for the question, not a template for the project.

At Research Wise Africa we deliberately assemble diverse teams that pool global expertise with local perspective and insight. We work remotely, lean on the digital tools that let us, and put real weight on partnerships with organisations and consultants in the regions where we operate.

What that gives you is a team of skilled, accomplished researchers who care about the work — and who understand the realities the people in your findings actually live in.

  1. 01

    Start from your decision

Before any instrument exists, we get clear on what you need to decide. The method follows the decision, not the other way round.

  2. 02

    Design for the field

Tools are translated, cognitively tested and piloted with the people who will actually administer them.

  3. 03

    Fieldwork with rigour

Trained local interviewers, back-checks, spot interviews and real-time monitoring — so quality is checked, not assumed.

  4. 04

    Insight that travels

Analysis, clear reporting and a proper handover, so the findings keep their value after the presentation ends.

The qualitative bench

Expert-led qualitative research, method by method.

Tap a method to see how we run it.

In-depth interviews (IDIs)

Our expert moderators work one to one with participants to explore attitudes, behaviours and perceptions, generating the depth that later feeds survey development or stands on its own as evidence.

Key informant interviews (KIIs)

We talk to people with genuine depth of knowledge — practitioners, policymakers, programme leads — to inform strategy and decision-making where the stakes are high.

Focus group discussions (FGDs)

Guided group discussion around a specific topic. FGDs work as a standalone method, as a supplement to other collection approaches, or as one part of a multi-method design that gets you deeper into the issue.

Ethnographies & immersions

Our researchers spend time with participants in their own environment, which is how cultural behaviour and motivation get surfaced — the things a survey question simply cannot reach.

Tool translation & audio transcription

Accurate translation of instruments and transcription of recordings, so data collection and analysis hold together across languages and formats.

Data analysis & reporting

Raw data turned into something people can act on: detailed, plainly written and properly visualised, with the reasoning left visible.
